OVERVIEW

The Directorate of Events, Media & Public Affairs serves as the public-facing engine of the Africa Book of World Records (ABWR). It is responsible for shaping the institution’s voice, visual identity, public image, and engagement across Africa and the world.

This Directorate translates ABWR’s mission into powerful experiences, stories, and campaigns that elevate African achievements to a global audience through events, media content, communications, and strategic public engagement. It is where record-breaking moments become global headlines, where African legacies are broadcast to the world, and where ABWR’s impact connects with millions.

MANDATE

1. To plan, execute, and amplify public events that celebrate African excellence.

2. To tell compelling human stories through world-class media and creative productions.

3. To manage ABWR’s public image and strengthen its perception across the world.

4. To build public trust and deepen engagement with stakeholders, youth, media, and communities.

5. To serve as the voice of ABWR, consistent, authoritative, and inspiring.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Event Planning & Management

Designing and delivering high-impact events such as:

a. world record attempt events

b. legacy exhibition showcases

c. summits, festivals, and conferences

d. campus tours and public dialogues

e.  media unveilings and press launches

f. anniversaries, private or public events, etc.

2. Live Record Attempt Coordination

a. Pre-event briefings and safety protocols

b. On-site coordination with adjudicators

c. Technical and logistical support

d. Media management for live events

f. Broadcast and livestream integration

3. Media Relations & Public Communications

Responsible for:

a. press releases

b. media kits

c. interviews and spokesperson briefings

d. crisis communication

e. continental and global media partnerships

4. Content Creation & Media Production

The Directorate operates a full media studio, producing:

a. documentaries

b. short films

c. interviews

d. photo essays

e. creative campaigns

f. social content

g. digital storytelling

5. Public Affairs & Strategic Engagement

Engaging with:

a. governments

2. Department of Media and Communications

a. Content Production Unit: they produce videos, documentaries, photograph, and press materials.

b. Public Relations and Media Relations Unit: they manage press releases, interviews, and media partnerships.

3. Department of Public Engagement and Outreach
